Crossed the final time zone!! Welcome EST!! 


It’s been a loooooong day of driving. We hit the road with cups of coffee in hand at 7 am. We weren’t sure how far we wanted to go but thought Toledo OH would probably be a good stop. Nope, Gary wasn’t tired and began thinking Erie PA would be the best place to shoot for. After 670 miles he finally stopped in Canadaigue/Rochester KOA. I don’t think we’ve ever driven so far in an RV/trailer. After I made the reservation we were committed so even when the sun went down we kept going. That was also a first. And then came the rain and we kept going. We finally made it to our campsite at 10:00 pm. Another first for us. We found it to be much more difficult to set up in the dark. Especially when you drop the keys to the trailer and they are nowhere to be found!!! After a few tense moments they were discovered in the grass. 

The most interesting city we drove through today was Cleveland! I’ve always been impressed with that place. The skyline is interesting, it sits on the shores of Lake Erie and it’s clean. Some day I hope to visit a bit longer. 





The evening was topped off by a full moon peeking through the clouds. It was a beautiful sight. We hope you caught a glimpse of it! One more day of driving should take us home tomorrow. God willing we will be home by 5:00 pm.

    Janet was born in Cleveland! It has the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, right on the shores of Lake Erie, if you want a reason to go.

    It was hard keeping up with you yesterday. I fully expected you to stop at the Erie KOA, your first stop on the way out to Alaska nearly 2 months ago. But then, like the Energizer Bunny, you just kept going an going.

    I am sure you will be thankful to be home today!

 We're Baaaaack!! Well, we lied...  June 25th, 2024 THE DETAILS: Cool night and very warm day. 42 overnight and 80 today. 260 miles/8 hours  Staying at Pioneer RV park just south of Whitehorse in Yukon Punctuation is important, eh? When we stopped to look at a possible dry camping site that overlooked a beautiful teal blue  river we noticed a handwritten note secured with duct tape to a picnic table. It read !!problem bear in area!! Gary read the note as “problem, bear in area”. He laughed and said, no kidding. I, on the other hand, read it as saying, “problem-bear in the area.” And I immediately went back to the truck for some bear spray!! Thank goodness we never encountered the problem bear.  Today’s journey was a gorgeous drive through the Cassier Mountain range with heavy white clouds hanging above them. It was picture perfect. I know some people find the beach to be their happy place (Deb Clark) but I have to say, I am most inspired by snow capped mountains! We saw 3 black bear today but couldn’t get their picture.

  June 15, 2024 Day 1   THE DETAILS: Cool, dry, clear day to travel We drove 500 miles today Staying in Erie, PA   The difference between a trip vs a journey… one is planned the other is taken from the Latin word ‘diurnum’ which means “daily portion”, “a day’s travel” … we’re on a journey. Taking one day at a time because scripture says “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” Matthew 6:34 Our journey started before we ever drove our first mile! This past week has been filled with trials that have tested our resolve and patience. Tuesday my mother became ill which required me to extend my visit with her to make sure she was comfortable before leaving. On my way home while driving on a remote part of the road, a deer jumped out and hit my 4-month-old car (used but new to me!), the week continued with our internet having problems which is a big problem due to my brother Dave and his wife coming
