Alaska… filled with boats, trains, and aeroplanes!

Once again we are faced with a day of rain and cool temps. We decided to not waste the day, so booked our tickets on the Alaskan Railroad.

We chose to follow the winding road beneath glaciered mountains along Turnagain Arm once again (because we’ll never get tired of seeing glaciers) to Portage Depot. This is where we boarded our train to embark on a 30 mile/4 hour trip to Grandview Whistle Stop.

“Grand View” can hardly tell the story. The lush green forested floor rose above us to thousands of feet. The snow covered mountains gushed glacier waters from its side into magestic waterfalls.

This trip never got boring or monotonous. The romantic ride along the trail was smooth and picturesque as it took S turns through the valley, snaked across bridges and traversed through tunnels.

It was the perfect way to spend a rainy day.
