Drove 225 miles & 7 hours

Currently at 3 Gs Hideaway Campground in Fort Nelson BC

The sun began to brighten my window this morning around 5:30 so I thought I’d get up to grab some pictures of the sun rising over the valley. Of course I looked outside first to check my surroundings…

What a view!!! As I poured my coffee I watched two young bison run right by my kitchen window in a full gallop! I sat, drinking my coffee, watching the sun rise, the fog in the valley lift and the bison herd move right around us.

We drove through some of the most spectacular territory British Columbia has to offer. Mountains, rivers and winding roads. But no wildlife!

On our way to Fort Nelson we came to a large pull off where many cars and trucks were pulled over. We could tell from the plumes of smoke that someone had a problem. We pulled over to find a man with two batteries on the front of his trailer actively burning. 2 propane tanks sat just in front of the flames. Gary grabbed our fire extinguisher and the two men went to work on getting it out. They poured 5 gallons of water over the whole front end and the emergency was put out to everyone’s relief but especially the Canadian who kept thanking Gary.

The police showed up shortly after it was under control which was pretty impressive considering we were out in the middle of nowhere.

Road Kill Count: 3 porcupine & 1 deer.
