June 18th cont..... Problem #2.   After settling in last night, after I posted the blog and we were getting ready for dinner, Gary noticed water on the floor between the bathroom and the entryway. He removed the electrical panel and discovered the hot water tank pipe fittings had come loose. Probably due to all the rocking and rolling from the road. He tightened them back up with a pipe wrench and it seems to have taken care of the problem. (Because every one travels with a pipe wrench... right?)

THE DETAILS:

The morning started off in the 40's!! but climbed to a cool 61. Dry. Partly sunny

350 miles/ 5 hours

staying in Regina, Saskatchewan

Last night we slept well under our electric blanket! We even had to turn the heat on when we got up. I think we're catching up on our lack of sleep due to the road and the stress leading up to leaving. we're both feeling a bit more rested. You know you are in the West when you start seeing the hillside branded!

After about an hour of driving today we reached the Canadian border. You never know what you're going to encounter at the border. We've encountered in the past, an hour wait, or a wait followed by a search with police and dogs! We were relieved when we pulled up and there was only one motorcycle in front of us and after answering all their questions correctly, we were on our way in about 15 minutes.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan are known as the 'Prairie Provinces' and for good reason. The farmland stretches for as far as you can see. There are more sheep, goats, horses and cows than there are people.

There are mile long trains and multiple working Derrick oil pumps everywhere. A beautiful drive through green lush farmland.

Gary's 2 cents: 1 coyote, 1 racoon, 1 pheasant (he wanted to turn around and get the feathers!! ugh!)
